Hourly/Salary: Salary

Remote/Hybrid/On-Site: On-Site

Work Location: Washington, MO

Workplace Environmental Conditions: Typical office environment with some manufacturing plant exposure.

Travel: Up to 10% domestically for site assessments, audits, and training as required.

Job Summary:
The EH&S Manager plays a crucial role in the development, execution, and management of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives within an organization. This position ensures adherence to regulatory standards, identifies potential risks, and formulates preventive strategies to safeguard employees, facilities, and the environment. Responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, performing safety inspections, investigating incidents, and delivering training on safe work practices. Additionally, the EHS Engineer serves as a technical authority on EHS issues, fostering a safety-oriented culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement cutting-edge safety protocols and environmental policies based on advanced EH&S principles and technologies. 

  • Understanding global EH&S requirements. 

  • Utilize modern safety management software to monitor, analyze, and report on safety performance, compliance, and incident investigations. 

  • Design and deliver comprehensive safety training programs, focusing on both operational safety and environmental responsibility. 

  • Conduct in-depth risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and opportunities for process improvements. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure EH&S considerations are integrated into new product designs and manufacturing processes. 

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and manage regulatory requirements for both domestic and international product entry. 

  • Maintain all necessary permits, licenses, and records for a steel equipment fabrication environment. 

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis for safety incidents, developing and implementing corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence. 

  • Develop and support a Health and Wellness program to promote overall employee well-being. 

  • Train and mentor employees on best practices for safety and environmental management, ensuring effective implementation of safety procedures. 

  • Stay informed about new EH&S regulations and industry trends, integrating relevant updates into company practices. 

  • Consult with engineering, manufacturing, and other departments to address and resolve complex safety and environmental issues. 

  • Become the go-to expert on the safe use of abrasives in the surface preparation industry. 

  • Travel up to 10% domestically for site assessments, audits, and training as required. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Ideal Qualifications: 

  • Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field. 

  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), or Certified Standards Professional (CSP) preferred or attainable. 

  • Experience working with international, federal, state, and local authorities to secure and maintain approvals, licenses, permits, and certifications. 

  • Experience in collaborative equipment design and integrating EH&S programs into PQDC (People, Quality, Delivery, Cost) visual management environments. 

  • Ability to publish in trade journals and present at industry and government conferences.
